Saroori expressed grief over accident on Thathri-Khara road

Demanded ex-gratia relief in favour of next kin of the deceased.

Kishtwar, August 13: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of human lives in the unfortunate accident in which a mother and her son were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled down into river in Kishtwar district.

The deceased were identified as Shamila Begum, 65, wife of Mohammad Shafi, resident of Bathri and her son Abdul Wahid who was a hardcore worker of Congress party from Khara belt. "An ill-fated vehicle JK02AM-2905 was on its way from Kahra to Thathri when the driver of the van lost his control due to which it rolled down into the river Chenab Yesterday afternoon near Machipal resulting in on the spot death of two persons in Kishtwar district.

In a message, MLA Inderwal G M Saroori expressed his sympathy with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls beside a place for them in a heaven.

Mr Saroori also reiterated his concern about the pressing need for the Police and Transport departments, as well as the other concerned agencies, to take the all required measures, on immediate basis, to reduce the incidence of fatal road accidents in the Erstwhile district Doda.

He assured every possible assistance to the kins of the deceased and urged both the State and district administration to immediately reactivate men and machinery to trace the body of Abdul Wahid from the river. Body of Shamila Begum, wife of Mohd Shafi was recovered from the river.

He has also appealed to Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to immediately release the ex-gratia relief in favour of next kin of the deceased.

Meanwhile Haji Ghulam Mohd Mir, Haji Ab Latief, Qazi Israeil, Ghulam Haider Wani, Farooq Shikari, Asgar Khangi, Jai Dev, Safdar Wani, Shameem Ahmed, Ghulam Hussain, youth congress leaders from Khara and others have also expressed grief over the accident.
