Saroori felicitates winners of Devi Gol cricket Tournament

Youngsters Nali XI drubs Challenger Misla XI to lift trophy

Bunjwah (Kishtwar), August 07: Devi Gol-Bunjwah Cricket Tournament concluded at Devi Gol, here. The Tournament was organized Zakir Hussain Keen, which invoked immense interest amongst the sports lovers of Bunjwah and adjoining areas with a large number of people specially youth thronging to witness the two weeks long Tournament in which 14 teams participated.

The final match of the Tournament was played between Challenger Misla XI and Youngsters Nali XI, wherein Youngsters Nali XI lifted winner’s trophy by defeating Challenger Misla Club by 6 wickets.

Earlier, Challenger Misla XI won the toss and elected to bat and made 125 runs in 15 over’s. Chasing the target Youngsters Nali XI chased down the target in the last over and won the match by a 6 wickets. Akhtar Hussain was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant inning. Vicky Kumar bagged man of the series award and Joginder Kumar bagged best bowler, Riyaz Ahmed Zargar best fielder of the tournament. The match was officiated by Shahid Khan and Imran Khan. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Farooq Ahmed Akhoon, Mohd Iqbal Keen.

Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, who was Chief Guest in the final match and at the prize giving ceremony, gave away the winners and runners up trophies. He complimented all the participating teams in the tournament, saying the game of cricket imbibes spirit of camaraderie among the youngsters. “That is why cricket is being called as gentleman’s game”, he said adding that young lads playing cricket in streets have made big at the national and international level.

Mr. Saroori appreciated efforts of organisers in promoting cricket in hilly areas. He hoped that holding of such events would promote cricket among youngsters and inspire them to make their presence felt at the State and national level.

Later Saroori also exchange various thoughts with youths of Bunjwah and stressed that the youth should make every effort to carry the benefits of democracy to the poor and those who stand at the margins of the society and said that focused attention is being given to explore and show case the serene beauty of Devi Gol Bunjwah.

Earlier, Mohammad Iqbal Keen presented welcome address and highlighted the demands pertaining to sports infrastructure in Bunjwah and presented the vote of thanks. The prominent among those Khalid Hussain Sheikh, Farooq Ahmed Want, Abid Hussain, Chowdhary Misroo, Diva Chand, Liyakat Ali, Shokat Ali, Shamas Din Butt, Ratan Lal, Pritam Chand, Lehar Singh, Abdul Kabir Keen, Chowdhary Mohd Shafi, Mohd Israeil, Nand Lal, Hari Lal, Balwant Raj, Hens Raj, Mohd Amin Khan, Haj Ghulam Nabi Butt, Ghulam Mohd, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, Jaffar Hussain, Yuraj, Roshan Lal, Krishan Lal, Mohd Shabir, Noor Hussain Tak, Abdul Rahim, Haji Mouhiuddin, Ghulam Mohd Masoodi, Roshan Lal, Man Singh, Somi Raj, Molvi Mohd Shafi Keen, Choudhary Qasam Din Kasana, Hafiz Israeil, Haji Hassam Din,Sarpanchs, Panchs and cricket lovers were also present on the occasion.
