September 17: - The mortal remains of a veteran Congress politician
Abdul Gani Goni, hailing from Bhaderwah passed away yesterday at GMC
Hospital Jammu after brief illness. He was laid to rest at Alnoor
Mosque, Greater Kailash Jammu today (Wednesday) at 11 AM.
Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Senior Congress leader J&K and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, several other Congress leaders, besides hundreds of people from all walks of life from Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Doda, Jammu, Srinagar and other parts of the State attended Namaz-e-Zanaza of the departed Congress leader.
Abdul Gani Goni, held very important position in the party and remained Minister, Member Parliament, Speaker and ambassador to Jordan by Govt of India.
Former Union Health Minister and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad condoled the sad demise of veteran leader Abdul Gani Goni. Azad while praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul, conveyed his sympathies to the family, relatives and well wishers of the departed soul. He described Abdul Gani Goni as symbol of simplicity, honesty and integrity who always remained committed to the service of down trodden and marginalized people of the State.
Senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori also condoled and have expressed grief over the death of veteran Congress leader Abdul Gani Goni and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family. Saroori recalled his association with the late Abdul Gani Goni as he was also the MLA from Inderwal assembly segment which Saroori is now representing since 2002 and politics and self-less service rendered by late Goni for the poor and down trodden members of the society. He said that Late Goni was a man of integrity and his death has created a void in the political field. He prayed for everlasting peace for the departed soul.
With the death of Late Goni, people of State in general and people of Jammu region in particular are in state of grief and have expressed sympathies with the bereaved family. Late Goni have three daughters and two sons and is uncle of Mohd Aslam Goni, former Advocate General and Congress leader from Bhaderwah.
