Saroori requested IAF, NDRF for rescuing Chenab Valley peoples from flood hit area Srinagar

Appealed to the people for special prayers to get rid of this situation and demanded free ration for 6 months: Saroori

Jammu, September 11: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today telephonically talked with officials of Indian Army Force (IAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and requested them for rescuing 50 odd peoples from erstwhile Doda district who were trapped at Khalsa hotel, Lal Chowk, Hazrat Bal, Armwari, Sonwar foot bridge, Shankrachariya, Batmaloo, Ravalpura, Tulsi Bag, Azad Basti Neti Pura and Raj Bagh in flood hit area Srinagar.


"Officials of Indian Army force have assured him (Saroori) that they are trying their level best for rescuing all the people’s who were trapped in Valley and added that many people’s from the areas mentioned by Saroori have already been rescued and will be airlifted to Jammu or Chandigarh soon beside said today 33 NIT students were airlifted to Delhi in which students belongs from Thathri, Bhalessa, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban also”, Officials of IAF informed Saroori telephonically and added that Saroori’s PRO Mohammad Iqbal Malik who is at Governor house Srinagar (Army base camp) along with 20 other people’s including Shokat Ibrahim Sheikh, Firdous Bhawani, Asif Iqbal, Mudassar Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, Khalid Hussain, Rehamta Begum, Saqib Qazi with his family and others from erstwhile Doda district are safe”, Saroori said in a statement.


He has urge the IAF, NDRF, Union government for speeding up relief and rescue operations in flood hit Jammu and Kashmir and to increase number of helicopters so that lakhs of people stranded at their respective rooftops are rescued and shifted to safer places. He also has made an appeal to state government for announcing  6 months free ration to the flood affected areas including Srinagar, Erstwhile District Doda and other parts.


Earlier Mr. Saroori while talking telephonically with DDC Kishtwar Mr. Mohd Javed Khan briefed him about the situation in the Inderwal constituency and said 31no foot bridges constructed by Forest department in different parts of Inderwal constituency including Sigdi, Kither, Chatroo, Udilgujran have been damaged. Telephonically it was also decided that a team from Kishtwar to Srinagar headed by Project Officer DRDA Mr. Aktar Qazi, DY DP Kishtwar Mr. Ayaz Zargar, Red Cross Mr. Bitta Sheikh and others be sent for welfare / identification of Kishtwar stranded people who were trapper there.


He has directed him to start surveying the damages caused due to flood, heavy rainfall in the area on war footing bases, so that the badly damaged public infrastructures like 31 foot bridges, roads, electricity, drinking water supply, sewerage, etc is restored and due compensation to the people who have incurred losses by way of damage to houses, crops, live stocks, etc. is paid,” said Saroori.


Saroori also made an appeal to the people that with the preventive measures they should also held special prayers to get rid of this situation because the almighty Allah is all powerful and can do anything. “Sometimes the disasters are the result of the evil deeds of the human beings and the only way to get rid from this is to surrender before almighty Allah and ask for pardon for our sins,” Saroori said.
