G. M Saroori expresses serious concern over repeated tragic road accidents in the Chenab Valley



KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 17: - Senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has expressed serious concern over repeated tragic road accidents in the erstwhile Doda district.

Drawing the attention of Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti towards the frequent occurrence of road accidents leading to loss of precious lives, Mr. Saroori said, “there is an immediate need to have a comprehensive road safety action plan to contain the rising number of accidents”.

“Road safety is a key concern in J&K due to geographical and other factors and keeping in view the loss incurred by the State, time to time people from all walks have written to Chief Minister earlier underlining the need to formulate a coherent action plan for the Chenab region”, he said, adding “let us wake up now”.

Referring to yesterday’s accident in which five family members, including three children, were killed when their car skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Kashore-Babore area in Jammu’s Doda district. The car was on its way to Jatheli area in Doda district when it skidded veered off the road and fell into a gorge while negotiating a sharp curve near Kashore-Babore area, Mr. Saroori said, “My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their dear ones in the fatal accident and I pray to Almighty to give them strength to bear this loss. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured”.

The deceased were identified as Bashir Ahmed Shah (45), son of Feroz Din Shah, his wife Fatima Begum (35), son Zia Bashir (14), and his daughters Shaika Bano (17) and Neelofar Bashir (19), all residents of Shiva Asthan ,tehsil Mohalla Doda.
