CHATROO, AUGUST 11: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori warned of a massive agitation if Article 370 and 35A were tampered with. “We won’t allow anybody to fiddle with Article 370 and 35A. We will launch countrywide agitation and will go for jail bharo,” Saroori said while addressing the gathering here at Chingam area of sub-division Chatroo.

Saroori said Article 370 and 35 A is part of the basic structure of the Constitution because we have incorporated it in accordance of the wishes of the then Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir. It is now a final article which nobody can touch. It is the understanding that this kind of a thing (repealing Article 370 and 35 A) are out of question,” Saroori said and added that no one raised any objections to the amendments made to the Article from time to time but only after the formation of BJP government they are raising for their own political benefits.”

He said Jammu and Kashmir, unlike any other state in the country, got its own Constituent Assembly in 1954 and the constitution of the state was not formulated by the constituent assembly of India, but by its constituent assembly itself. “The constitution of this state was not formulated by the constituent assembly of India, but by its constituent assembly itself. That was a plebiscite. It is the constituent assembly of J&K which incorporated some provisions of the Indian Constitution. The plebiscite has therefore taken place. We are not living under the constitution of India but under the constitution which was framed by the constituent assembly which has willingly accepted a part of the Indian constitution,” he said.
“Let us put party lines aside and fight to protect Article 35 A and Article 370.”

At Khawara area Mr. Saroori visited the residence of senior Congress leader and former Sarpanch of Chingam-B panchayat Mr. Roshan Lal whose father late Paras Ram ji passed away last month and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

“Paras Ram Ji contribution to the party will go down in history as a story of selflessness and sacrifice and he will be missed. We should all pledge to work hard in serving the people of Inderwal and that would be the best possible tribute to him”, Saroori said.

After visiting Khawara, Parna, Pahalgwar, Shangam Chingam, Chatroo areas, a meeting of senior functionaries of the Chatroo block was held at Dak Bungalow Chatroo in which PCC Member Altaf Hussain Malik, President BCC Chatroo Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, senior leaders Santosh Kumar, Akhtar Hussain Butt, Haji Ghulam Mohd Kohli, Mohd Amin, Ayaz Malik, Bashir Ahmed and others were present on the occasion. Mr. Saroori took stock of the organisational activities and the steps for intensifying them at all levels with an aim to meet the future challenges and emerge stronger and victorious in electoral exercises.

At Mr. Saroori residence two dozen political activists from Chatroo area joined Congress party. While welcoming the new entrants Saroori said that their entry would give boost to the party in Chatroo belt. He said the rural and far flung areas have always believed in Congress ideology. He expressed satisfaction that people from all the sections of society are now turning towards congress Party throughout the country.
