Society needs to recognize and value hard work put in by the labour class: Saroori



Announced 60 lakhs for the construction of water body at Mugalmaidan on the pattern of Chatroo

MUGALMAIDAN, AUGUST 09: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori said society needs to recognize and value hard work put in by the labour class and added that all parties should without any politics should be committed to their socioeconomic uplift.

Saroori was speaking at a daylong awareness camp, organized by Labour Department at Mugalmaidan which witnessed a large gathering of building and other construction workers, contractors and other working classes of the society.

He said the administration should do everything possible to address the needs of the down trodden and labour class, adding that they are essential components of the society. He said that various initiatives and schemes are being formulated so that this very important section of the society is empowered at the grassroots level.

While highlighting the significance of the awareness programme, Saroori said that the main aim of the workshop is to educate the working section about their rights and their protection for which the administration is committed. He stressed upon the need for generating awareness among masses in general and labour class in particular in relation to labour laws. He further emphasized on need to conduct such awareness programmes throughout the length and breadth in whole district on regular basis so that maximum number of people are made aware about the immense benefits of various schemes of the department. He also directed the RDD department to clear the dues of MGNREGA job card holders at an earliest so that general public won’t face any more hardship.

Reiterating his agenda of reaching out to every section of society, Saroori said that the labour class is vital for the socio economic development of the society. He said he is very keen on empowering the labour class and various welfare measures are afoot in this regard.

While inspecting the tourism infrastructure at Mugalmaidan, Saroori also announced Rs. 60 lakhs for the construction of water body here at Mugalmaidan on the pattern of Chatroo. He reiterated his commitment for developing tourism in rural and far flung areas in Inderwal constituency. He said that development of tourism sector in sub-division Chatroo is his top priority.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Kishtwar Muneeb Umar said the labourers are the prime constituent of the society for which this programme is meant for. He also assured that the labour department will take every possible step for their welfare. He informed that from 2011 to 2018, more than 40,000 beneficiaries have been covered among which Rs 3 crores has been disbursed. He said that the amount has been disbursed under various categories including educational and marriage assistance, medical assistance, chronic disease assistance etc.

BDO Mugalmaidan Muzaffar Wani highlighted the role of various government sponsored schemes including MGNREGA and other allied welfare schemes in transforming the socio economic condition of rural community. He said that creating awareness among the masses about various welfare schemes is the need of the hour.

Among others officials of Rural Development Department, Revenue, besides huge gathering of Labourers and construction workers were present on the occasion.

Later Mr. Saroori visited the residence of those who recently passed away in Singpora Chatroo areas. Vice President JKPCC was accompanied by local Congress leaders including Haji Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Altaf Hussain Malik, Bidya Lal Sharma, Farooq Ahmed, Atta Mohd, Mohd Akbar, Mohd Ramzan, Chowdhary Jeelani, Bashir Ahmed, Akhtar Hussain and others. “I am deeply saddened by the loss of the deceased’s as they would be truly missed by everyone by the people,” he said and added that words are not enough to express sorrow over the demises. He stayed with the bereaved families and expressed his sympathy and solidarity with them, offered fatiyah, consoled the family members and prayed to the Almighty Allah for eternal peace to the departed souls beside a place for them in heaven. He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.

Earlier two dozen political activists joined the Congress and was welcomed by the Mr. Saroori at his residence Kishtwar from Simbole Kuchal, Sigdi, Chatroo areas. The newly entrants were the source of strength and they will be valued like the cadre of Congress in steering out the state from prevailing morass," Saroori said and expressed the hope that their joining would infuse new vigour among the cadre to serve their areas.
