Large number of BJP, PDP and NC workers joined Congress in Inderwal

BJP which had claimed to sweep LAHDC elections saved its skin by winning one seat out of 30 seats

Congress having support of 11 councilors in LAHDC

KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 08: - A large number of BJP, PDP and NC workers from Arigam Bugrana Drabshalla, Deller, Passerkote, Zella, Singpora Chatroo, Mugalmaidan, Kahara and Nali Bunjwah areas resigned from BJP, PDP and NC joined Congress in presence of Vice President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori here today at his residence Kishtwar.

Saroori, while welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, termed the moment as historical and said that day by day more and more active workers from other political and social groups are joining the Congress owing to party’s selfless policies.

He assured them to come up to their expectations and continue to struggle for the welfare of the poor or down trodden people initiated by the party. He said that the doors of the party were always open for those who believe in the program and polices of the Congress and have faith in its leadership. He asked them to work untidily to strengthen the party at gross root level in their respective areas.

Saroori on the recently held Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) election said that people of Kargil have given a hung verdict in the election with no party able to get clear majority, Congress was positioned at the second place having 8 seats earlier but now our party is also having support of three Independent councilors, taking the number to 11.

He said the BJP, which had claimed to sweep the elections, saved its skin in these elections by winning just a one seat out of 30 seats. He congratulated the people for smooth conduct of election and appreciating local Congress leaders & the entire Party cadres in Leh, Kargil who put their efforts to manage the entire election at their own level.

The new incumbents attributed the reasons of their joining the Congress to their disenchantment with the performance and policies of BJP, PDP and NC. They added that they were impressed with the performance, spirit of public service and the leadership of the Congress. They also reposed full faith and confidence in the leadership of the party and said that Congress has always stood for the cause of the people and took historical steps for the upliftment of the downtrodden section of the society. They assured the party rank and file that they will work sincerely to disseminate the programme and policies of the party at all levels.
