Merger of BJP and PDP in 2015 resulted in shrinking of both the parties: Saroori

Formation of next Government by Congress was a foregone conclusion

Addressed workers meeting at Drabshalla

DRABSHALLA, SEPTEMBER 01: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today said the merger of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State in the year 2015 has resulted in shrinking of both the parties and BJP has finally given up their identities for their survival.

Addressing a workers meeting here at Drabshalla area in which Block Congress Committee Drabshalla, Local Congressmen’s attended the program, Saroori said though the PDP-BJP had been playing tricks with the people of the State but their leadership has proved a last nail in its coffin. He said the performance of the Government during the last three and half years has been the worst for any dispensation. While on the day to day governance there was a complete failure even in redressing people’s genuine problems, resumption of work on Rattle power project, Drabshalla, the Government failed to respond, he added.

“BJP has completely abandoned its national character and it can’t survive independently anymore as a political party in the state and that is the reason it is not bothered about the people’s issues,” Saroori said, adding BJP has nothing to show anything substantial to the people and now the BJP has started raising the issues to polarize the region including scraping of Article 370, 35-A, deport of Muslims Burmese, Bangladeshi from Jammu.

Saroori credited the Ghulam Nabi Azad-led government with having pioneered ground-breaking initiatives on political, economic, development and social fronts in 2005. He alleged that despite having ruled the state for more than four decades, the National Conference had only exploited the people with rhetorical slogans and had done nothing substantial for the social, economic and political welfare of the state and its people. He said with BJP who emerged in some areas as a major force and increased its presence in the Assembly in 2014 through a divisive agenda that is based on communal polarization and sectarian differences. He said the BJP won the three seats in Parliament elections and 25 seats in Assembly elections last time by promoting communal polarization and now it is planning again to create sectarian division even within the Muslim community as has been given out by its ‘poll strategist’ through reports.

He said the PDP-BJP has earned the anger and disapproval of the people all across the State because of their misdeeds, corruption, scandals, and inefficiency. He said the previous four years have witnessed the worst ever Govt in the State and it won’t be a surprise that the coalition partners will be dumped by the people in the upcoming elections.

Saroori said the formation of next Government by Congress was a foregone conclusion but it is in the hands of the people how strong a mandate they would give to Ghulam Nabi Azad to address the heavy challenges the State is faced with.
