Kishtwar, April 23: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Mr G M Saroori on Thursday said that State government is committed to empower the people at grass root level and said that socio-economic upliftment of Gujjar community is on the priority agenda of the State Government.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at Sigdi area of tehsil Chatroo, district Kishtwar this afternoon, Saroori gave an overview of initiatives taken for the overall development in the Sigdi area, saying the effort is gigantic which calls for active support of the people.

“People are best judges of gauging performance and providing crucial feedback on the pace of development and quality of work being undertaken by various executing agencies”, he said, hoping that they will continue to perform their role of helping the government in devising developmental strategies keeping in view specific requirements of specific areas.

Mr Saroori referred the role of Panchayat members and said that they can identify the works to be undertaken for the overall good of the people as a whole. He also distributed 500 BPL ration cards among beneficiaries.

Emphasizing the need for time bound completion of various works, Mr Saroori said that developmental projects and other welfare schemes lose their efficacy if delayed or fail to meet the aspirations of the people. It is with this view, the government functionaries have been made accountable to monitor the status of schemes on regular basis for ensuring their implementation and completion within stipulated period.

He also inspected Sigdi Bhatta road which is constructed, Seri Balana road which is constructed by R&B, inspected Sangam Bati to Sigdi Bhata bridge which is construct at the cost of 2.50 crore by PMGSY and took stock of all developmental activities being executed in the area. He directed the concerned officers to complete them within stipulated time so that people can get maximum benefit from such welfare and developmental schemes launched by the government.

Mr Saroori urged upon the officers to utilize funds judiciously and transparently besides by way of proper coordination among departments.

He urged upon the officers of PDD to improve the supply of electricity in the area and take up the installation of new electric poles and its wiring on priority.

During his tour, several deputations of Sigdi, Bhata, Bhalana, Gindgam, Phalgam, Mulchitter, Deller, Chatroo and Drabshalla areas put forth various issues pertaining to Construction of road from drabshallah bridge to Olhi via Seegat, speedy construction of road from Mulchitter Pairi to Mulchitter Bala, compensation of Sigdi Bhata road, Opening of PHC’s at Thounatee, Grathan, Up gradation of Govt School batkoot, Shandari, Opening of sheep husbandry centre at Balana, provide electricity to un electrified villages under RGGVY to Phalgam, Hundgam, Gurian, Balana Bhata, construction of store building at Sigdi, and other day to day concerns.

Mr Saroori gave patient hearing to the deputationists and assured them that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal on priority.

On the occasion dozen people including Shib Lal, Nath Ram, Suresh Kumar, Bansi lal, Lekh Raj, Gulab Chand, Saroop Chand, Ashok Kumar, Krishan lal, Des Raj, Sadoo Ram, Bansi Kumar, Bodh Raj had joined Congress party in presence of Saroori at Sigdi as well as Saroori residence at Kishtwar.

In his address to the newly joined and party workers, Mr Saroori asked them to spread the policies and programmes of the party to the nook and corner of the province. He asked them to work zealously and selflessly for the people of the province and become a bridge between the government, party and the people.

The function was attended by Tehsildar Chatroo Mohsin Ali, BDO Chatroo Seema Parihar, TSO Chatroo Tariq Rasool, AEE R&B Chatroo Mushtaq Sheikh, AEE PDD Chatroo Sudhir Sharma, ZEO Chatroo Subash Sharma, and CDPO Inderwal Kaiser Bhawani. Sarpanches including Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Bidya Lal, Chowdhary Qasim, Abdul Hamid Bhawani, Nazir Ahmed, Abdul Latief, Aziz Mohd, Vice President IYC Inderwal Shaikh Basharat and people in large number were present on the occasion.
