Administration at all levels should be responsive to public demands: Saroori

Kishtwar, April 25: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori visited Drabshallah and Chatroo areas of District Kishtwar, he was given enthusiastic and rousing reception by the people of the area enroute to the venue of Darbar.
While addressing mammoth gathering at Chatroo and Drabshalla Saroori said “Administration at all levels should be responsive to public demands and work with zest and dedication to ensure that benefits of works percolate to the people,” he said and added that an effective mechanism to register peoples’ grievances at block, tehsil and district levels be put in place so that action is taken to redress the genuine grievances.
Saroori also informed gathering that the deficiency of staff in schools had been taken up with Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who had agreed to get the problem mitigated. He also informed that 1800 new ration cards have been issued only in Chatroo tehsil.
He also informed gathering that 44 villages have been electrified during this year and in other phase another 25 villages will be electrified. He also informed that Rs 2 crore have been sanctioned for up gradation of grid station of Dadpath Chatroo which is the long pending demand of the area.
For improvement/development of Agriculture and other allied sectors in the area. Saroori asked the poor farming people of the region to use modern and advanced methods of farming , cultivate good variety/ high yielding crops for the upliftment of their socio-economic status and District as well.
Saroori appeals to Chief Minister J&K Omar Abdullah and Minister for CAPD Ch Mohammad Ramzan to provide 3 month free ration to people in Erstwhile District Doda where dry spell had caused 80 percent to 90 percent damage to crops. He said the government had earlier set up a Committee to undertake a survey of the affected areas that reported 80 percent to 85 percent damage to crops in the erstwhile Doda district. At some places, damage was reported to be up to 90 percent.
He lauded the people of Chatroo and Drabshalla for keeping the torch of communal harmony and brotherhood lighting even under difficult circumstances. He asked them to maintain and strengthen this characteristic and not to get astray by vested interests who try to divide them on region, religion, creed or caste for selfish ends.
On the occasion Saroori distributes cheques worth Rs 12.25 Lack at Drabshalla among 163 beneficiaries under BRGF and 22 beneficiaries under MPLAD at Chatroo and Rs 16.74 Lack among beneficiaries under BRGF and MPLAD at Drabshallah and also 200 Indian Youth Congress (IYC) membership cards were distributed at Drabshallah.
Various deputation also met Saroori and demanded early opening of Sinthan road, Up gradation of PHC Chatroo to Sub District Hospital Chatroo, early commencement of work on water Filtration plant at Chatroo, maintenance of road surface particularly Dunadi Bunjwah road, payment of MGNREGA job holders, opening of sub centres and day to day problem.
Saroori gave patient hearing to the demands of the deputationist on the occasion and issued on spot instructions to the concerned officers to mitigate their genuine demands. He directed concerned officers to organize awareness camps in the area so that poor people get the benefits of various benefit and welfare schemes of the government. He also said that unemployed youth of the area can avail the benefits of various self employment schemes and establish their own income generating units. He also emphasized on Revenue department to make elaborate arrangements to give people awareness about the settlement which is going to take place in near future and said three Boys Hostels were sanctioned in the state out of which one was sanctioned at Chatroo (Kishtwar) to which work has already been started.
The function was attended by Tehsildar Chatroo Mohsin Ali, BDO Drabshallah Shokat Hayat Mattoo, BDO Chatroo Seema Parihar, Sarpanches and Congress Leaders including Mohammad Iqbal Keen, Ch Issaq, Ch Masoodi, Shamsadin, Mohd Aslam Saroori, Tariq Wani, Abdul Latief, Mohd Amin Naik, Ghulam Mohd Kohli, Abdul Kareem, Farooq Ahmed, Piyaray Lal Sharma, Akhtar Hussain Tatani, Shahid Rashid Mattoo, Zahid Hussain, Noor Din, Roashan lal, Nazir Ahmed, Gh Mohd Tappal, Mohd Shafi Saroori, Sher Singh, Gh Mohd Naik, Basher Ahmed Ahanger, Ab Kareem, President IYC Inderwal Mohammad latief Mughal, Vice President IYC Inderwal Shaikh Basharat, people in large number and officers of various department were present on the occasion.
