Saroori raises issue in LA, demands action against goons.

Blackmailing on the name of RTI act at rampant in Kishtwar.

Speaker orders probe.

Jammu March 28: - Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today strongly objected the blackmailing of local employees by the two goons Sanjay Kumar and Raj Kumar of Keshwan Kishtwar who happens to be the VDC members.

Saroori while raising the issue in the Legislative Assembly said that the two goons under the garb of RTI act and VDC/SPO weapons were not only harassing the government employees working in the Keshwan area of Kishtwar District, but also blackmails the people on one or other pretest. He said that by using threatening tactics, the two goons withdraw the money of MGNREGA meant for the poor people and has spread a reign of terror in the area. On the question and apprehension raised by Saroori, Minister of Rural Development Department Ali Mohammad Sagar assured Saroori that the government will seek details from District SP Kishtwar regarding the allegation leveled against the two VDC/SPO. He said that they will take action against the goons involved in harassing the poor people.

Speaker Mubarak Gul also advice Mr. Saroori to provide details to him so that inquiry into the public allegations against the two could be initiated.

MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori said that two individuals Sanjay Kumar and Raj Kumar has spread terror among the common people living in the area. He said that the two were also allegedly involved in dumping weapons (Bullets and grenades) in the house of some innocent locals with the intension to blackmail them. He said that the accuse also forcefully took away the job cards of the poor people. He said that both were actively involved in filling RTI’s and later demanded money from the officers for withdrawal of the same. He said that he handed over all the documents pertaining to filling and withdrawal of RTI’s, beside public complaints and copy of FIR registered by the police to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Vigilance Commission, DG Police and also to Assembly Secretariat seeking detail probe against the two who happens to be VDC/SPO members and also demanded their disarming.

Meanwhile as per the direction issued by the Speaker Mubarak Gul, Deputy Secretary Legislative Assembly Fayaz Ahmed Shah vide letter No: LA-1154-55/Misc/2013 Dated 26-3-2013 addressing Principal Secretary to Govt, Home Department Jammu directing him to take necessary action in terms of issue raised in the Assembly and complaint filed by MLA Inderwal G M Saroori with Speaker Legislative Assembly.

It is worthwhile to mention that RTI Act which gives exclusive right to the common people to avail the information from identified government and public sector department has become the tool of corruption as the mafia working in various areas under the garb of act files RTI’s in the department and instead of full filing the purpose, these individuals starts harassing the officers on one or other pretest, thus hampering the normal work in the government run offices.
