Sarpanchs should not only stick to financial powers but exercise to check the functioning of 14 departments: Saroori


Doda, April 27: - Congress Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Inderwal G M Saroori, during his continuous tour to Inderwal constituency visited Khara area of Tehsil Thatri of District Doda.

While addressing mammoth gathering at Khara, “Saroori said now a day’s every one is saying whether Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad will come back in J&K Politics or he will stay at the centre, added that he wants to give answer to them that Azad is going to visit every nook of corner in the state after the parliament session which will be concluded on 10th May 2013 and he will be the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir”. He also informed that Mr Azad has been included in the 100 worlds famous personality that too continuously third time. At present he is at 70th number, after hearing this information from their local MLA people started cheering up and it goes on with full excitement and thrilling and later sweets were distributed among the local people.  

Saroori said that Congress party is the only party which is committed to provide equal opportunities of progress and development to the people belonging to various regions, sub-regions particularly far flung areas.

He also referred to the empowerment of Panchayats and said that these institutions have already been given powers from 14 departments and the need of the hour is that Panchs and Sarpanchs utilize these powers in full and help cultivate good governance at the grass roots. He said Panchs and Sarpanchs should not only stick to financial powers alone but exercise the powers they have been given to check the functioning of primary schools, Anganwari centres, CAPD ration depots, First aid health centre, Animal Husbandry centres and other similar activities having direct impact on the life of people.

Saroori informed the gathering that many un-electrified villages have been electrified now in the next phase electricity will be provided to Kushitough, Banjoro, Kuthal, Dramnan, Sharantni and other villages under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) shortly beside shortage of staff in schools will be fulfilled very shortly as the matter is already discussed with Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who is holding Education department he has assured me that filling vacant post in the school would be done on priority. On the occasion 250 membership card were distributed by Saroori among youth of Indian Youth Congress (IYC). 

Later Saroori reviews all ongoing works of the area including MGNREGA, Khara Tanta road which is under construction by PMGSY at the cost of 13 crores, Khara Jai road which is under construction by CRF road at the cost of 8 crores and almost 70% work is complete, Goila Trankel road, Khara Challar road which is schedule to be started shortly by PMGSY at the cost of 14 Crore, new DPR under NABARD were submitted of Payakul road, Chabba to Kannoo Dugroon road, Khai to Koshietough road and other works.

During the visit Mr. Saroori also interacted with the local people, Panchs and Sarpanchs of the area and enquired about the problems faced by the people and gave on-the-spot instructions to the officers for timely redressal.

He asked the officers to make people aware about various centrally and State government sponsored schemes being executed in their areas.
Officers including Executive Engineer Gondoh Abdul Rashid, Naib Tehsildar Thatri Ghulam Nabi, AEE R&B Parvez Ahmed, AEE PDD Mohinder Singh and others. Congress Leader and Sarpanches including Haji Ghulam Mohd Mir, Haji Abdul Latief Wani, Chowdhary Noor Maey, Bashir Ahmed Sirwal, Mohd Ramzan, Haji Ghulam Hussain, Hasham Din, Ghulam Haider Company, Zulfkar Wani, Mohammad Shamim, Abdul Majeed, Zakir Wani, Muneer Ahmed, Sabdar Hussain, Sultan Parray, Akhtar Parray, President Inderwal IYC Mohammad Latief Mughal, Genaral Secretary IYC Inderwal Farooq Ahmed Drought & others accompanied Saroori during the visit to Khara.
