Congress MLA moved private member bill on banning Liquor, Gutka in J&K

Stress for strengthening article 370; raises Young boy killing issue on the floor of the Assembly

Srinagar May 29: Member of Legislative Assembly from Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori raises the issue of 27 years old Abdul Wahid son of Gafoor Gujjar resident of Mulchitter Mugalmaidan of district Kishtwar, in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly demanded statement over the killing of a Abdul Wahid in Chatroo from the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who is also state Home Minister over the issue.

He demanded strict action against the culprit of those who have done this barbaric act in Chatroo area. On Monday the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir will give statement over the killing of a young boy by Army in the Assembly.

Saroori also submitted a private member bill in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly demanding blanket ban on sale of liquor and Gutka in the state.

He said that majority of growing incident of crime in the state are linked with liquor including increase in crime on women. He said that the diseases caused due to use of liquor and Gutka are spreading in the state at an alarming rate added that youths are falling prey to this menace added that the money spend on the treatment of these diseases is more than the revenue collected as tax by the government.

Saroori said that if state like Bihar could take a decision of banning liquor and Gutka trade then why not the government of only Muslim majority state of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he is hopeful that government will allow safe passage of bill which is in the interest of future of our youths who are falling prey to the diseases caused due to use of liquor and Gutka.

He also paid rich tributes to the former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Ex Speakers, Lok Sabha, Balram Jakhar, PA Sangma, Ex Ministers, Ch Lal Mohammad Sabir, Mohammad Khalil Jawahar, Dr Rameesh Chander Sharma besides legislators, Sehdev Singh and Mohammad Maqbool Mohjoo.

While paying tributes, Saroori highlighted the contribution of the deceased leaders. Saroori used the occasion to highlight "delay" in release of aid to the flood victims by the Centre. "Mufti sahab died while looking for the file of flood relief," he said and added that the late Mufti Sayeed died while searching files of the flood victims. He also highlighted late Mufti Sahib Contribution towards the peace prospective and development of the State.

Saroori further stressed on the need for strengthening of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
