Congress paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of Labour class and was the back
bone of the society: Saroori
Kishtwar, May 01: - Labour class was the back bone of the society and Congress party is committed for their welfare and addressing their genuine issues.
This was said by Congress Vice president J&K and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori in a function organized by NHPC Employees Union and Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) at NHPC Kishtwar on Friday where hundreds of laborers working in various public and private sectors participated in the function.
Saroori said that May Day is the only commemoration that is celebrated across the world cutting across national frontiers, ethnic, racial, creed, caste, colour divisions and religious prejudices to uphold the unity of the class struggle. “Daily wagers in different departments who are providing water and other services etc to people in far flung and remote areas, are being paid only twice in a year—Eid or Deepawali—festivals in respect the daily wagers from Kashmir are being paid rupees 4500 per month”, Saroori alleged
On the occasion of Labour Day Saroori called upon state government to end this discrimination with Jammu region and treat everyone equally without color, caste and creed and release the wages of all daily wagers monthly and also regularize them who has completed seven years of service.
Saroori also urged Chief Minister of J&K to solve the genuine demands of HR Workers in PHE department, CPW, RET’S, EV’S workers working in education department, NYC workers, VDC’S members, SPO’S, Asha Workers at an earliest and added that he (Saroori) will leave no stone unturned in raising his voice in favour about the rights of laborers at all the fronts in getting their genuine demands fulfilled.
He also stressed on the need to further strengthen and widen the unity within the trade union movement beside demanded for early start of construction on all Hydro Electric Projects in Chenab Valley so that local youth of the far flung areas will avail benefit from these projects.
Saroori along with hundreds of INTUC leaders and labours also paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of Labour class, who gave their precious lives for the welfare of the labour class and is the basic component of the societies who put in their blood and sweat in raising the infrastructure of various vital institutions.
Prominent among those J&K INTUC Secretary Abdul Wahid Lone, Latief Ahmed Lone, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Keerti Bhushan Kotwal, Youg Raj, Firdous Mingnoo, Waseem Sajjad, Mehraj Anjum, Waseem Maker, Shafqat Hussain, Saidullah Ganie, Som Dutt, Om Parkash, Ghulam Qadir Naik, Seri Lal, Abdul Gani Malik, Ravi Kumar Shan, Noor Hussain Ahanger, Abdul Rehman, Jaffar Hussain, Ch Ismaeil, Seri Chand and employees of NHPC were among the prominent who were present on the auspicious occasion.
