Asks DDC to prepare pilot project for development of municipalities
DODA, NOVEMBER 30: The Committee on Environment on the third day of its tour of Chenab valley today inspected District Hospital Doda, Solid waste management plant and various municipal areas to take stock of cleanliness and sanitation facilities there.
Chairman of the committee MLA Inderwal Mr G. M Saroori was accompanied by Legislators Dr. Krishan Lal, Naresh Gupta, Mr Shyam Lal Bhagat and senior officers during the visit.
While reviewing the sanitation in and around the town the committee appreciated the beautification works taken up by the municipality in the town. Committee inspected old hospital building, Town hall Doda, Construction site of Community hall Doda and new bus Stand and directed the concerned agencies to ensure time bound completion of renovation works of the old hospital building Doda. Directions were also passed to the EO municipality to cover the garbage dumping site near new bus stand to prevent spread of diseases.
During meeting with the officers Committee directed Deputy Commissioner Doda to report the quantum of plantations undertaken during last two years in the Baghilar catchment area within 15 days.
Committee also sought report from the Divisional forest officers regarding the number and type of plantations along with the total area covered and damages to these plantations due to developmental projects so that actual progress of afforestation programme could be assessed. Committee directed DDC to constitute a team of officers to submit a report regarding the plantation by the forest department with the percentage of their survival
Chairman also asked DDC to prepare a pilot project for the development of the municipalities and expressing serious concern over the shortage of staff in Municipal Committee Thatri directed to engage sufficient staff to improve sanitation. ACD Doda was asked to ensure that the sanitation works in the rural areas are taken up on priority and more man days are generated . Chairman also directed to ensure that quality flour is provide to the consumers
Committee members stressed on ensuring proper disposal of bio-medical waste, plugging the leakages in the PHE Pipes and also asked the concerned to check that hotels have proper STP’s.
