‘Gherao’ of Civil Secretariat on November 9; Party holds meeting and protested against PDP-BJP at Doda

Doda, November 04: - PCC Vice President G. M Saroori launched a scathing attack on the PDP-BJP coalition Government and demanded stringent actions against those who were working against the unity and integrity of the State.

Accusing the RSS and BJP of "promoting a design to trifurcate State on communal lines," Saroori said the RSS's project was not only to damage the State but also to destroy the very idea of India". "We all know that it has been their (RSS) dream to divide the State on the basis of religion, region and language," said Saroori and added that disgruntled elements are hell bent upon to harm the communal harmony and age-old tradition of unity and brotherhood in the State.

"The present coalition has 'miserably failed to stop this polarization' and has brought the State on the verge of disintegration due to its wrong policies. The present Government was expected to deliver but unfortunately they are encouraging the atmosphere of drift and intolerance in the State. Efforts are being made to bring different communities at loggerheads," Saroori said while tearing into the Mufti-led coalition Government.

The Congress vice president said that the party would expose the betrayal of the BJP over the redressal of public issues and its sellout for the sake of power, as people are highly disturbed with the policies of BJP in the government on various stands, specially fulfilling its commitments of ensuring batter deal to Jammu region" Saroori said and adding that the PDP- BJP coalition was exploiting people on various issues. "Had there been a proper mechanism with PDP- BJP Coalition, the situation would not have taken an ugly shape on various occasions," he maintained.

Saroori urged the government for early start of construction on Sudh-Mahadev-Marmat tunnel of which the survey was done during my tenure as R&B Minister in 2010, Chatroo-Singpora - Vailoo tunnel in Kishtwar, Dessa-Kapran in Doda and Chattargalla tunnel on Bhaderwah- Bani- Basohli road, Dessa- Kapran tunnels in erstwhile Doda district. Saroori said that these tunnels will provide alternate road connectivity to twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar. He said that this alternate road will prove a boon to the State and will contribute in transformation of socio-economic status of the people of these areas. He said these tunnels will reduce the distances considerably, On completion, he said, these tunnels besides providing inter regional connectivity between Kashmir and Jammu will also help to explore and promote tourism potential of both the districts of Doda and Kishtwar besides these alternate routes tourists of Vaishno Devi could be diverted here as there are immense tourist potential in districts of Doda and Kishtwar.

On the issue of caste-based reservation, Saroori said that the Congress is of firm opinion that system of reservations for schedule castes, scheduled tribes and OBC must continue. Congress pledged to carve out reservation for the economically weaker sections of all communities without prejudice. Saroori also appealed to the party workers from erstwhile Doda district to reach Jammu in large number to participate in the protest of ‘Gherao’ of Civil Secretariat on first day of its reopening in Jammu on November 9, 2015 against the PDP and BJP which have brought the State at the verge of disintegration through its policies.

Saroori further stressed on the party leaders, workers for strengthening of party- public relationship. He said the party needs to be ready for the Municipality election to ensure success and take the state forward. “We have to make our party ready so that we win the municipality election with good success and take this state forward,” Saroori told workers. “Time for the test is coming. This is the last few months to make this party strong as municipality election is around the clock,” Saroori said and adding that you will see Congress party in a new face, with new enthusiasm… a new life will be enthused into the party and new activities will take place which will benefit the party workers and advice them to remain united.

While addressing the workers President DCC Doda, Naresh Kumar Gupta said J&K has lost its identity because of the unholy alliance between PDP-BJP. Gupta said PDP and BJP are responsible for the “disturbed socio political scenario” in the state due to controversial statement by BJP leaders regarding J&K. “People have reposed faith in the electoral process, but the PDP-BJP dispensation has disappointed them,” he said.

Others speakers who speak on the occasion are Sham Lal Bhagat, Ashok Kumar, Sheikh Mujeeb, Hanief Shah, Ghulam Haider Sheikh, Javed Ahmed Wani, Bandey, S. L Manhas, Hoshair Singh, Mohd Iqbal Keen, Noor Maey, Farooq Ahmed and other Congress leaders lash out on NDA and PDP-BJP and termed BJP government as “anti-people and “pro-corporate”. The Congress leaders said that Prime Minister of India Narinder Singh Modi putting farmers deliberately to a great loss only to benefit the Corporate Houses. “Mufti government has lost credibility among the masses and the last seven months in office is a complete failure,” they said.

Later the Congress party registered protest against the coalition government at Doda and seeking revocation of 12.5 per cent Services Tax (ST) imposed on air borne pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji and other shrines, filling of Doctors post in various health institutions. plying of more SRTC buses, required infrastructure in government schools and colleges, regularization of Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReTs), National Youth Crops (NYC) casual laborers, daily wagers, HR workers, NYC, contractual staff, Adhoc, HR workers, casual labourers and other labours working in different departments who have completed seven years of service, release of wages in favour of government employees. They said that the public of erstwhile Doda district is facing starvation due to non availability of ration as government run CA&PD stores runs dry, added that due to heavy rains and snow, the crops as well as the land has been destroyed and the state government has failed to sanction the relief in favour of the poor public. They raises slogans against the coalition government and demanded better facilities to the people in terms of health, education and roads, beside compensation to the flood affected and rain effected people of Jammu and Kashmir including to the people of Chenab valley.

The Congress leaders said that inhabitants Kishtwar, Chatroo, Marwah, Warwan, Padder, Nagseni, Chatroo, Mugalmaidan, Thakrie, Drabshallah, Bhalessa, Kahara, Thathri, Bhaderwah, Marmat, Bharat, Doda, Assar and other areas are facing water sacristy, but the PHE Department has failed to meet the burning demand of providing water. "The District treasures run dry. All the developmental works have been stopped, the government must release the funds to districts so that developmental works could be started at an earliest," they said and added that government has also fail to repair and restore Kishtwar-Batote road, resulted into major accidents that claims the lives of several innocent people traveling on these poor roads of Chenab valley.

The protest was led by PCC Vice President G. M Saroori who along with senior leaders of the party and marched from town hall Doda to DDC Office Doda and register protests over the failure to address people problems by PDP-BJP government. They also submitted a memorandum to District Development Commissioner Doda Bhupinder Singh highlighting various public related issues. After listening the demands of Congress leaders, DDC Doda assured them that he would work out over their genuine appeal and will take strict note and direct accordingly.

Prominent among those Asif Jahan Gattu, Riyaz Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Urfi Majeed Wani, Mehboob Mustafa, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Bidya Lal Sharma, Asgar Khangi, Mohd Rafique, Jagdish Raj, Hens Raj, Piyaray Lal Shan, Abdul Gani Butt, Noor Hussain, Firdous Mingnoo, Altaf Malik, Khalid Hussain, Hasham Din, Mohd Abbass, Shah Din, Mohd Sultan, Suraj Prakash, Iqbal Teli, Ghulam Haider, Randeep Bhandari, Chowdhary Issaq, Majeed Rahi, Gulazr Mattoo and other Congress leaders, workers were present on the occasion.
