Congress holds protest march against PDP-BJP govt in Jammu


Kishtwar November 09: A meeting regarding the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (RR) Plan of 48 Megawatt lower Kalnai HEP was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar G.N Balwan at old DC Complex Kishtwar.


The threadbare discussions were held regarding the RR Plan prepared by Chief Project Manager JKPDC and represented by Executive Engineer Lower Kalnai JKPDC.


Balwan directed Executive Engineer JKPDC to hold meeting with the land owners whose land have been acquired for the project and look into their genuine demands. He directed the concerned XEn to prepare the RR Plan on the pattern of Rattle HEPP Drabshalla keeping in view of the demands of land owners. DDC Kishtwar further directed SDM Thathri to look into the genuine demands of the people regarding their issues and forward the same for the further submission to higher authorities.


MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori executive member for the implementation of the said RR Plan said that plan should stick to its guidelines and its first priority should be given job to unemployed youth and added that Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (RR) Plan should be implemented in totality which includes construction of schools, roads and several other welfare initiatives so that common people may get benefited.


Saroori recommended reframing the existing rates of the land, so that the people who had donated their land for the project may get their genuine rates under rules.


In response to the demand of public regarding the jobs for land donors, Executive Engineer JKPDC replied that there is no such provision for giving permanent employment to the project affected families to JKPDC. However during the construction of the project the preference will be given to project affected families by the Contractors. He further clarified that the land needed for the construction of project is already been acquired and no further land can be acquired at this stage.


The meeting was attended by CPO Kishtwar Dr. Yasir Balwan, ACR Kishtwar Khalid Hussain Malik, ACD Kishtwar Akthar Qazi, SDM Thatri Nodal Officer RR Plan Lower Kalnai Abdul Qayoom Mir, M. L Sharma Project coastal pvt. Limited Thathri, X.En Special Subdivision Gandoh, X. En PHE Kishtwar, X. En PDD Kishtwar, Tehsildar Drabshalla, Tehsildar Thathri, other senior officers, Sarpanches of Balgran, Chamoti, Batoi etc. land owners, and other stakeholders.


Earlier hundreds of Congress workers from district Doda and Kishtwar assembled at PCC Vice President G. M Saroori residence here at Jammu and started the march from Gandhi Nagar to Secretariat Jammu. Led by Saroori, a large number of party activists from Chenab Valley took out a “Secretariat Gherao” march, protesting against the alleged failure of PDP-BJP government on all fronts. Carrying placards and banners and raising anti government slogans for its alleged failure on all fronts, the Congress activists marched through Gandhi Nagar and joined other Congress activists from Jammu region led by President JKPCC Ghulam Ahmed Mir here at Hari Singh Park Jammu, which was foiled by the police that was deployed near bus stand Jammu, later all the Congress leaders were arrested.


Prominent among those from Chenab Valley are Aslam Goni, Sheikh Mujeeb, Abid Hussain, Santosh Kumar, Pershant Bhandari, Chowdhary Issaq, Mohd Iqbal Keen, Asgar Khangi, Sheikh Basharat, Krishan Lal, Brij Nath, Somnath, Om Prakash and others were present on the occasion.
