1931 martyrs comments not the opinion of the Congress party
Kishtwar, July 16:
Senior Congress Leader and Former Minister, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today said
that “what Vikramaditya Singh has said regarding 1931 martyrs is highly
condemnable.
Congress distanced
itself from "remarks made by any individual" and cautioned its
leaders to be careful. Any remark made by any individual is certainly not the
opinion of the party," the senior Congress leader said. "We advise
all leaders of our party to be careful.
“Terming the martyrs
sacrifices as a golden chapter in the history of JK. The best way one can pay
homage to these heroes is to develop JK as an egalitarian and tolerant society,
free from the distinctions of religion, region, caste or creed. Martyrs gave
their life for securing dignity and self-respect. Heroes of 1931 had dreamed of
a democratic, prosperous and tolerant Jammu & Kashmir for which they even
laid their lives. It’s now our responsibility and challenge to make the State
truly a model by strengthening these ideals and guarding them firmly,” Saroori
said.
Earlier Mr. Saroori
while exuding confidence into the workers and party functionaries said during
his visit to Balana area of Sigdi, “The need of the hour calls for increasing
greater contact with the people. It is for our workers and party functionaries
to take the agenda and program of the party to every household. The need
of the hour is acquaint the people about the party’s spectacular past and the
future programme by undertaking a door to door campaign. There is no scope of
complacency. Our mission is explicit and clear, it is to protect the
special status of the state and put the state back on the track of development
and prosperity.”
