Assess the rain, windstorms damages in Kishtwar & Doda: Saroori

Expressed concern over the shortage of doctors in ISM sub-centres; Clear landslide on Thathri-Dunadi road

Jammu, February 27: - Congress senior Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has demanded compensation to the affected families of windstorm and torrential rain in Inderwal constituency.

"In twin district Kishtwar and Doda scores of houses and hutments have been destroyed and washed away by the windstorm and torrential rains in Loidhar, Mulchitter, Dadpeth, Dunadi, Bunjwah, Khara, Jakyas, Bhalessa, Chatroo, Chingam, Thakrie, Keshwan, Saroor, Sarthal, Drabhshalla, Thathri and other areas of Inderwal constituency", Saroori informed DDC Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan and DDC Doda S. V. Meena telephonically.

Saroori has expressed anguish over the huge loss to the property, crops and has directed upon the district administration of Kishtwar and Doda to immediately depute teams of officials at an earliest to assess the losses including damage to residential houses and agriculture crops.

He has demanded timely disbursement of compensation to all the affected families in the state especially in erstwhile Doda district. He has also directed Executive Engineer PMGSY Kishtwar, Ashraf Gilkar to immediately clear the landslide on Thathri-Dunadi road, so that general public of Bunjwah, Bhalessa would not face any hardship.

In a meeting with Director ISM Abdul Kabir Dar, Saroori expressed concern over the "acute shortage of doctors and life saving drugs" in ISM sub-centres in Inderwal constituency.

Saroori informed Director that there are no Doctors or Pharmacists in various ISM dispensaries including Kither Bunjwah, Balgran, Bahdat, Nagbatna, Sarthal, Keshwan, Chingam, Mugalmaidan, Naidgam, Bhatyas, Tanta and Phigsoo of Inderwal constituency.

He urged him to fill all the vacant posts of Doctors and pharmacists in all the ISM sub-centres in Inderwal at an earliest as ISM dispensaries are very useful in far flung areas and are the backbone of medical system in our country.

Director ISM assured Mr. Saroori that within 15 days that all the vacant post will be filled. Others who were present including Dr. Anil Kant Gupta, Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Dr. Shabir Ahmed Mattoo and Dr. Anayat.

A deputation from Thakrie, Bunjwah, Sarthal, Saroor, Bhalessa, Thathri also met Saroori at his residence Jammu and informed him about the day today problems faced by the people in their respective areas.

They have raised issued like non-availability of basic facilities like Ration, drinking water, un-schedule electricity cut, proper health care facilities, shortage of teaching staff in local schools, MGNREGA payment, filling of Tehsildar posts in Thakrie and Sarthal areas and construction of Srawan road.

Saroori assured the deputationist to solve their genuine demands at an earliest and has already taken up the matter of Construction of Shivnagar Srawan road with Chief Engineer PMGSY and hopefully the matter will solved.
