Congress concerned over fast spreading of swine flu


J&K hospitals lack adequate protection gear, N95 masks, anti-flu drugs: Saroori

Urges Union Health Ministry, Governor to intervene to tackle this outbreak

Jammu, February 24: - Congress senior Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has expressed concerned over rapid spreading of Swine Flu in Jammu and Kashmir.

Saroori said this has panicked the people as many people have died in the state and in the other states of India due to this deadly virus.

“The way there is increase in such number of patients on deadly basis, it shows this needs to be tackled well on time and the health department keeping in view this matter should put all its machinery in use and people should be provided all necessary help,” Saroori said.

He has also expressed anguish over non preparedness by the health authorities to tackle the contagious swine flu disease and alleged that J&K hospitals lacks adequate protection gear, masks and anti-flu drug medicines to deal with the virus, which puts the workforce in the hospital including the doctors and Patients at risk.

Saroori had also asked the district heath officials of district Kistwar and Doda to take effective measures to check spread of swine flu in the areas and ensure availability of H1N1 vaccine, N95 masks and tamiflu tablets.

“The Health and Medical Education authorities should immediately launch a vigorous awareness campaign to educate masses about the preventive measures against this deadly disease Swine flu through both print and electronic media so that they don’t panic,” Saroori added.

Saroori has enjoined upon the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir N. N. Vohra, health department and administration to role out an effective contingency plan to check increasing number of deaths due to this fatal viral disease.

He has also appealed the Union Health Ministry, Governor to personally intervene in this matter and take stock of situation on regular basis besides directing all the concerned agencies and medical stores to stock the necessary medicines needed to tackle this outbreak well on time to save the precious lives of the citizens.
