Party will grow under Azad’s leadership in J&K, says Congress


Azad’s victory signal a defeat of communal forces

JAMMU Feb 12: The Congress leaders today celebrated the winning of Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Rajya Sabha elections.

A rally was held at party office in Shahidi Chowk Jammu and crackers were burst. While speaking on the occasion Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today asserted that the Congress party would come back strongly under the leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad.

"Azad sahib is our leader. The party will grow under his leadership and we will come back to power in the state also, we will work under him and take the party forward," he said. "We will remain with the people, work for them and correct our shortcomings and move forward that is the tradition of the party." Saroori added.

MLA Haji Abdul Rashid said that “Everyone from poorest to richest acknowledges the good work of Azad he has done during his tenure as CM or as Union Health Minister”.

He said that during the regime of Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister, the State of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed rapid growth and large number of projects both developmental and welfare were launched. He said several mega Receiving Stations were set up, Colleges, Higher Secondary complexes were constructed several roads and link roads were constructed besides extending essential services to various uncovered areas in state.

MLA Akhram Choudhary said the utterances of leaders of regional parties are inconsequential; it’s time for involving youth, new faces in the party, their involvement will regenerate the hollowed pillars of the congress Institution.

Congress is the only party which has a vision, strategies for the progress of the Country; we will come back because there is no other choice for the people for secular India. We are a party who believes in development and peace, our agenda is economic empowerment, and our dream is India to be a permanent seat in the UN’s Security Council that is by way of peaceful, prosperous and Secular India.

Terming the victory as defeat of communal forces, Spokesman Salman Nizami said “MLA’s of the state have given a befitting reply to the communal forces and have expressed intention that they need harmony and brotherhood."

He thanked National Conference party MLA’s, Independent MLA’s including MLA M.Y Tarigami, MLA Eng Rasheed, MLA Hakim Mohd Yaseen for "failing" the communal powers. "Communal forces tried to gain mileage by spreading hatred, but the MLA’s who supported Ghulam Nabi Azad by their power of vote defeated them," he added.

PCC Secretary Advocate Masood Choudhary, MLC Naresh Gupta, Zulfkar Azad, Ashok Sharma, Anil Chopra Distt President Jammu, and others participated in the programme.
