Azad, Kar bereaved; Saroori chairs the condolence meeting


“Kar played a vital role in the Congress party”

Greets people on Baisakhi; Demanded ex-gratia relief to the Ramban and Bhaderwah accident victims

Jammu, April 15: - To mourn the sad demise of mother of Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad and demise of Former PCC Chief Ghulam Rasool Kar, a condolence meeting chaired by Vice President JKPCC, Mr. G. M. Saroori was held here today.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Organisational and Publicity secretary JKPCC, Salman Nizami, Congress leaders including Piyaray Lal Sharma, Mansoor Ahmed Mattoo, Vikram Bhandari, Asif Iqbal Butt, Jatin Manhas, and others.

The meeting expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed souls.

They described the mother of Azad as a noble soul and a nice human being who lived a pious life.

They also remembered the great contributions of Mr. Kar throughout his life in the political field in different capacities. He played a vital role in the Congress party during his long association with the party. He led the party at a crucial time when militancy was at its peak and played a vital role to initiate the political and democratic process at that time. He served the state in different capacities including a minister & member parliament.

“Expressing grief over the loss of precious lives in the tragic road accident that occurred on Jammu Srinagar National highway near Battery Cheshma, 7 kilometers from Ramban”, Saroori said and demanded grant of adequate ex-gratia relief to the victims’ families.

Saroori also issued instructions to the doctors for taking extra care to the injured of Galgander Bhaderwah accident and has demanded compensation to the injured being treated in different hospitals.

The participants stood in silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls. The participants prayed for granting courage to Azad and Kar families to bear with this loss.

Meanwhile, Aslam Goni, Sheikh Mujeeb, Abdul Majid Wani, Naresh Gupta, Sham Lal Bhagat, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Ghulam Haider Sheikh, Mohd Aslam, have also expressed deep shock and condoled the sad demise of Azad’s mother and Mr. Kar and conveyed heartfelt condolences.

G. M. Saroori has also extended his felicitation to the people on Baisakhi wishing them happiness and well-being.

In his message on Baisakhi eve, the Congress Vice President J&K has highlighted the rich ethos of Jammu and Kashmir of celebrating festivals and holy occasions in an atmosphere of brotherhood and amity. He expressed the hope that this characteristic of the state would get further strengthened.

Saroori wished peace, prosperity and development of the state and the country.
