Chatroo-Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel is in advance stage and is priority to construct in next few years: Congress Vice President J&K


Prestigious Kishtwar-Sinthan road to be made open for vehicular movement in next month: Saroori

Chatroo, May 06: - The National highway Kishtwar-Sinthan road will be made open next month for the traffic, this was informed by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Inderwal, G. M. Saroori today while addressing a public meetings here at Chatroo and Chingam areas of district Kishtwar.

During the second day tour to Sub-Division Chatroo people gave him warm reception and thanked Vice President J&K PCC, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, who has been pivotal in pushing the Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel, Kishtwar-Sinthan Tourism Project, Kishtwar-Sinthan project and other projects through.

Saroori said after opening of Kishtwar-Sinthan road it will make shortest road link connectivity between the people of twin hilly and far-flung districts of Doda and Kishtwar with summer capital Srinagar. He said that since Doda-Batote road has been declared unsafe for vehicular movements after a several stretches washed away near Assar, Ragi Nalla, daily landslides and laid stress to connect both Doda and Kishtwar district with the rest of the world by way of opening of Kishtwar-Sinthan road.

“It is the need of the hour that this route connecting Doda and Kisthwar with the rest of the world will be opened next month and road till Aloo farm area will be opened on 9th of May,” said Saroori.

Saroori said that with the opening of this road, there will be a huge flow of local as well as foreign tourists to both these districts as both these routes are attractive for tourists. “We can give boost to the tourism pilgrimage also as numbers of religious places of different religions are located in these two districts as number of Pilgrims could not visit those religious places due to poor connectivity,” said Saroori.

He said that various proactive measures have been taken up to explore the immense tourism potential of the far off areas in the Sub-Division Chatroo as such Rupees 7.83 crores Kishtwar-Sinthan in which Yatra Sarai, Huts, parks and allied infrastructure is under execution. He called upon the Tourism department to work with vigorous and dedication to ensure the execution of ongoing projects well in time and projects taken in hand on completion would change the socio-economic profiles of the people of Chatroo.

Saroori also said that the dream project of Sub-Division Chatroo in particular and Kishtwar and Doda in general “Chatroo-Singhpora-Vailoo” tunnel is in advance stage and said that this is his priority to construct Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel in the next few years. The ambitious project to bore a tunnel between Vailoo in South Kashmir and Singhpora in Chatroo Kishtwar, once completed, will revolutionise road connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the Doda region of Jammu.

He enjoined upon the officers to work with devotion and dedication for the socio-economic development, benefit and welfare of the people living in the area. Regarding progress of different ongoing developmental works in the area, he directed the concerned executing agencies to redouble their efforts for their time bound completion and accelerate construction work of Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Chingam, early completion of Government Degree College Chatroo building and Dak Bungalow Sinthan Maidan.

Various demands and grievances were raised by the people during the darbar, which include deficiency of staff in various schools, augmentation of Power and Drinking water distribution system, Land Compensation issues, replacement of damaged transformers and old worn wires, inadequate ration supply, black top on various roads, timely supply of seeds and fertilizers to farmers, MGNREGA payment and other day to day problems.

Saroori listened to the demands patiently and assured the people that their genuine demands would be redressed in a time bound manner. He also issued directions on spot for the redress of the genuine demands of the people to the concerned officers. He directed the Horticulture, Agriculture Officer and Social Welfare Officer to aware the people about various schemes launched by the state as well as central government for their betterment.

Bhagat, AEE PMGSY Mushtaq Ahmed, AEE PDD Sudhir Sharma, Treasury Officer Masood Mattoo, ZEO Inderwal Fateh Mohd, SHO Ravi Kanth, Officials of PHE, RDD, Administrator Auqaf Bashir Ahmed, and Congress leaders including Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Ghulam Mohd Kohli, Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Altaf Hussain Malik, Mansoor Mattoo, Piyaray Lal Sharma, Santosh Kumar, Chowdhary Noor Din, Ghulam Mohd Naik, Bashir Ahmed, Somnath, Kunj Lal, Lachmand Das, Mohan Lal and people in large were present on the occasion.
