Distinctive identity at grassroots level to make Congress the party of the future in Jammu and Kashmir: Saroori

Warm reception given to Congress Vice President J&K at Phigsoo, Pul Doda, Drasbshalla, Thathri

Thathri (Doda), April 29: - A rousing reception was today given to the Congress MLA from Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, on his visit to Thathri, Phigsoo, Drasbshalla, Dadi Kathawa, Pul Doda, Kandani and its adjoining areas of district Doda after become Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC).

While addressing the gathering, Saroori said that the party should have a distinctive identity at the grassroots level to make it the party of the future in Jammu and Kashmir.

Saroori also said that Congress party will soon setup and strengthen organisational structure up to booth level, in order to strengthen the party at the grass roots. He advised the party leaders, Workers and Members to remain in touch with the people and strengthen the party at grass root level by taking the people on board. He assured Congress party worker that he along with central and state leadership of Congress will fight neck to neck with them for the welfare of the people of state.

Reacting strongly on the recent transfers made by the state government Saroori suggested the Chief Minister of J&K that the transfer policy in Jammu and Kashmir should be on the basis of performance rather than giving emphasis on a particular community. The government should make the balance of both the communities and the focus should be on development and said coalition government (PDP-BJP) should not play dirty politics for pity benefits out of it.

Assuring people of fulfilling all their genuine demands in phased manner, Saroori said that Sub-Division Thathri would be developed on modern lines for which a massive development plan has been formulated to improve the basic needs of the people. As such the ten kanals of land from Sheep husbandry department would be transferred five each for the construction of Tourist receipt centre (TRC) and Bus stand at Thathri”, said Saroori.

During the tour Saroori interacted with locals, enquired their problems and directed concerned field functionaries for immediate redressal of their grievances. He called upon the SDM Thathri and departments of CA&PD, PHE, PDD and PWD to ensure hassle free services to the people adding that it should be ensured that people should not face any inconvenience with regard to getting ration, Kerosene, drinking water, electricity and healthcare facilities.

Beside took stock of the problems confronting the inhabitants of Thathri, Jangalwar, Kandote, Nandna, Phigsoo, Dadi Kathawa, Sharoute and other adjoining areas and review the work on Thathri-Kilhotran and Dunadi-Bunjwah roads.

Earlier, a public representation put forth various demands including blacktop of roads from links roads in Thathri, staff in schools, staff in hospitals, regular power supply avoiding unprecedented power cuts and improvement of defunct water supply schemes, MGNREGA Payment, Aanganwari centers, registration of ration cards according to the population of 2011 census registration of deserving BPL families and other day to day problem. Saroori assured them that their grievances would be addressed on priority in a phased manner.

En route to the Kishtwar people of Udhampur, Assar, Pul Doda, Premnagar, Thathri, Drabshalla, Kandani, had given warm reception to Mr. Saroori on his 1st visit after becoming Vice President JKPCC.
