Saroori, Wani expressed shock over Desa Doda landslide incident; 7 dead in collapsed house


Asked administration of district Kishtwar and Doda to act swiftly

Jammu, April 04: - Vice President JKPCC, G. M. Saroori-MLA Inderwal and General Secretary JKPCC, Abdul Majid Wani-Former MLA Doda today expressed grief and shock in a tragic incident of landslide in Desa area of district Doda.

A mud house belonging to Jodh Raj was collapsed due to landslides at Dessa area of district Doda in which all seven persons including four children’s, one woman and two men were buried in the depris.

Saroori and Wani have conveyed their heartfelt condolence to the family members of bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. They also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased’s to bear irreparable loss.

Congress leaders have appealed to Hon'ble Chief Minister J&K Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to immediately release Rs one Lakhs each as ex-gratia relief in favour of the family members of those who have lost their lives.

MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has also asked the administrations of twin district Doda and Kishtwar to act swiftly to offset hardships of the people in the wake of landslides due to heavy rainfall in various parts of Kishtwar and Doda adding that Disaster Management Committees at divisional and district levels need to be operationalized to set the affected public delivery system back on rails.

He said landslides clearance on all the roads should be completed on war footing basis so that movement of people and traffic is restored.

“The landslides is yet to be cleared on many roads and major road network in rural areas across Kishtwar and Doda is yet to see the traffic plying resulting into tremendous inconvenience for the general public,” Saroori added. He also called for immediate clearance of the National Highway Jammu-Kashmir and Jammu-Kishtwar for vehicular movement so that business and trade activities are restored.

In order to meet the challenges of incessant rain vagaries, the district administration of Kishtwar and Doda need to ensure a better coordination between different departments especially those providing essential services, Saroori maintained and called upon the government to take extra measures to ensure minimum curtailments in electricity particularly in erstwhile Doda district including Keshwan, Thakrie, Kuriya, Chingam, Chatroo, Passerkoot, Mugalmaidan, Kuchal, Sigdi, Sarthal, Bhagran, Angara, Karool, Saroor, Tatani, Drabshalla, Kandoth, Thathri, Phigsoo, Bunjwah, Patnazi, Khara, Bhalessa, Jakyas, Bathri, Kandani and its adjoining areas.

The Congress leader urged the government to ensure that there is no chaos or scarcity of essential commodities including LPG, kerosene, drinking water, sugar and ration. “The medical services, especially emergency services, should be monitored besides the damaged power distribution lines should be immediately repaired to ensure a better power supply in the state,” Saroori demanded.
