Arrange free langer for stranded passengers; Saroori told Div Com Jammu
Visited GMC to enquire about the health of various patients from Chenab Valley
Jammu, April 05: - Vice President JKPCC, Mr. G. M. Saroori-MLA Inderwal along with Salman Nizami (Organisational and Publicity secretary), Bashir Ahmed Sirwal (Congress district Vice President Doda), and congress leaders today visited General Bus Stand Jammu and met with hundreds of stranded passengers from different parts of Kashmir, Chenab Valley and other regions of the State and took stock of the problems of them.
The stranded passengers complained about the shortage of food, drinking water and blankets etc. They criticized that no concrete steps has been taken by the Government so far. Saroori gave a patient hearing to the people and assured them that he will take up this issue with the Government.
Interacting with the stranded passengers, Saroori said that BEACON and R&B are carrying out restoration work and damaged stretch of the road in Khelani, Samroli areas are expected to be cleared by tomorrow.
Saroori said that redressal of the people’s grievances is the prime concern of the Congress party and “the service to humanity is its mission and goal”. He assured the stranded passengers that Congress party is abreast with their problems and will take the issue with Divisional Commissioner Jammu so that he would take requisite steps to redress them.
Saroori took the matter with Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Mr. Pawan Kotwal telephonically and asked him to personally monitor the situation and arrange the basic essential things including free langer for the passengers.
He further asked him to direct the concerned officers to take stringent action against the profiteers especially the hoteliers who are charging exorbitant rates from the stranded passengers.
Saroori urged Div Com Jammu for activating different market checking squads to check black marketing, hoarding and profiteering by unscrupulous shopkeepers and traders who take undue advantage of the weather and road conditions.
Later Congress leaders visited Government Medical College (GMC) and Hospital to enquire about the health of various patients from Erstwhile Doda district who are suffering from various diseases.
They interacted with the patients at GMC&H and assured them all help. He (Saroori) also enquired about the status of patients and instructed the Hospital authorities and Doctors to provide every required medical facility to the patients so that they do not feel any inconvenience.
