Saroori demanded construction of four lanes from Batote to Kishtwar

One died in a tragic accident on Doda-Kishtwar road

Drabshallah (Kishtwar), April 15: - Expressing deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of one Haji Alam Din son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Drabshalla Kishtwar in a tragic road accident that occurred on Doda-Kishtwar road near Prem Nagar today, Vice President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, G. M. Saroori has demanded construction of four lanes from Batote to Kishtwar.

Saroori has expressed grave concern over the condition of the Batote-Kishtwar National Highway and has collapsed at several places, beside the road shows sign of sinking at many places as a result of which the threat of permanent disconnectivity looms large in the area having population of more than 7 lacs.

He said that the road has turned into a death trap and can invite trouble any time, added that it was unfit for traveling of heavy vehicles.

Saroori said the road is in worst condition and only solution is to construct four lanes from Nashri tunnel to Khelani-Doda- Phigsoo Thathri-Kishtwar upto Anantnag via Singpora Vailoo tunnel and by construction this route it will be all weather roads and will be shortest and feasible road so that the people of this hilly belt are relieved from their problems.

“The mishap occurred when the ill fated maruati car on way from Doda to Drabshalla fell down into deep gorge near prem Nagar resulting into death of Haji Ilam Din.

In a condolence message Saroori conveyed his heart felt sympathies and solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul beside a place for him in heaven. He (Saroori) impressed upon the district administration Kishtwar to extend full support to the bereaved family at this time of grief. He also appealed to the Chief Minister J&K for extending financial support to the family of Alam Din.

Saroori regretted that such accidents have become a routine affair but no concrete action has been taken so far by the government to save precious human lives.
