“Party will soon setup and strengthen organisational structure up to booth level”
New Delhi, April 17: - In the backdrop of the situation emerging due to incessant rainfall, flood in Jammu and Kashmir State, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) Vice President Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today met All India Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the Union capital. He briefed her about the latest political situation in the State as well as discussed the organisational matters of the party.
He also put forth before Congress vice president some of the suggestions for strengthening Congress Party in the J&K State. Mrs Gandhi endorsed his vital suggestions for rejuvenating the party at grass root level.
Saroori brought to Congress president’s notice several problems and developmental issues of Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed with her about construction of construction of four lane from batote-Khelani-Doda-Kishtw ar
upto Anantnag via Singpora-Vailoo tunnel which is already been
sanctioned by UPA II government. He said this tunnel will be the
shortest alteration road to existing National Highway 1A from Batote to
Kashmir via Chatroo Sinpora Vailoo tunnel.
He gave detailed information about the tunnel and said pre-feasibility report stands submitted by GREF to Union Road and transport ministry. He urged Sonia Gandhi to take up the constriction of Chatroo-Singpora-Vailoo tunnel with Union government in the interest of state.
Saroori expressed gratitude to Congress High Command for entrusting him with responsibility of Vice President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and conveyed to her that he would leave no stone unturned to strengthen the party at the grass root level in all three regions Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Saroori also extended invitation to Mrs. Gandhi to visit the state for which the Congress President responded positively. He said, “Women folk of state feel elated and encouraged with her visit and boosts their morale and confidence”.
Sonia Gandhi congratulated Saroori on being nominated as Vice President JKPCC and asked him to work with dedication and propagate programme and policies of congress party among masses.
Gandhi asked Saroori to vigorously continue the membership drive in the state as in other parts of the country. She also asked that party will soon setup and strengthen organisational structure up to booth level, in order to strengthen the party at the grass roots, Saroori said.
In another 60 minutes long meeting with Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saroori brought in to Azad’s kind notice regarding the situation which has arisen due to scarcity of ration and non issuance of free ration to the Chula slip beneficiaries enlisted for provision of six month free ration other than ration card holders in reference to the government order for provision of free ration to flood and crop damaged victims in the State.
He also discussed about the liabilities against executed works under MGNREGA in district Doda and Kishtwar. “The non-payment of the wages has created un-recoverable vacuum of development and income generation programme for general public”, Saroori said and urged Azad to take the issue with Union Government for clearance of MGNREGA liabilities in the state beside issue of release of wages in favour of SSA, RAMSA Teachers in J&K and for providing ration on the basis of 2011 census and not as per 2001 census..
Saroori also discussed with Mr. Azad the to-date status of various ongoing developmental projects in district Doda and Kishtwar and the requirement of additional funds for construction of Dak Bunglows in Bhalessa, Kuriya, Chatroo, Jakyas, Kilhotran areas under MPLAD funds for carrying out further developmental activities in the area,” a statement said.
Azad assured his full cooperation and sympathetic consideration of his demands and said he will take relief for flood affected families, MGNREGA payment, Teachers salaries with Union Government and also with Union CAPD Minister Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan pertaining to the allotment of essential commodities including food grains, fuel, Kerosene Oil, LPG Gas by the Centre to the State.
Saroori also met with General Secretary AICC and In-Charge Jammu and Kashmir, Ambica Soni and discussed various issues pertaining to organizational matters and strengthening of Congress party in the state.
Soni issued necessary directions to the Saroori and laid stress for close coordination between state and central leadership so that the decisive forces could be kept at bay.
