Congress stages walk out from Legislative Assembly and Council


‘We don’t want to commit this sin and will oppose it’

SRINAGAR, JULY 08: - Opposition Congress party staged walk out of the Legislative Assembly and Council soon after the government laid the Presidential Order on GST extension to the state.

The Congress legislators walked out of the council, saying that the presidential order "What have we discussed here? Nothing, except abusing by the ruling party. The government is happy that it has extended GST to the state with safeguards, but the finance minister of the country Arun Jaitley has said that GST extension is integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India, Nawang Rigzin Jora Congress MLA said.

When it was done for integration, then why we were called for committing this sin, another Congress MLA, G. M Saroori said and added that we don’t want to commit this sin and will oppose it,” Congress legislators said and staged walk out from the both lower and Upper Houses.

“Calling assembly on debating GST was a “fixed match” between BJP and PDP,” Congress leaders said and added that that the presidential order should have been laid in the House before so that the opposition could get time to read and analyse it. “But it is being given now. So how can we discuss it,” they said.

The Congress legislators did not stay in the House even when CM had to make the concluding statement on GST.
