Wind of change blowing in the state: G. M Saroori

Dozens of PDP-BJP workers joined Congress in Bathri Kahara belt

Concluded three days tour of Bhalessa, Kahara areas

BHALESSA, MAY 17: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today said that wind of change is blowing in the state and the change is imminent even in the Jammu and Kashmir in the next Assembly elections.

Saroori was addressing the public meetings at Challar, Jakyas, Bhatyas, Bathri and Kahara areas of sub-division Gandoh & Thathri and said that a strong wave of change was visible all around in the State. “The change is imminent and no one can deny this fact. The people are not going to spare anymore and they will certainly throw the parties out which stood exposed for their tall and hollow slogans”, he asserted.

Launching scathing attack on coalition government (PDP-BJP), Saroori said due to non-performance, ‘coalition’ has lost its credibility. It has shattered the faith of the people as the promises made with public during previous elections were not fulfilled by the BJP party. The state government is directionless and floating like unmanned ship. It stood exposed in view of non-governance and worst ever performance. The people are not going to spare them in these next coming elections, he added.

Saroori said that Congress wants to change destiny of the people of J&K and to set up a pro-people, corruption free transparent and accountable system. “It is our desire to make Jammu and Kashmir peaceful State wherein every individual will get equal opportunities of growth and development”, he said and reminded that during Ghulam Nabi Azad tenure as CM J&K had taken every possible effort to solve problems of the people. He said that initiatives taken by the Azad led regime had yielded very encouraging results because faith of the people in the democratic institutions was restored and the commoner got the taste of good governance.

Dubbing PDP-BJP coalition as opportunist alliance, Saroori said that both the parties have entered into alliance without any programme and policies. “The only aim of this alliance is to enjoy absolute power without caring for the wishes and aspirations of the people”, he said.

At Bathri area of Kahara tehsil, dozens of coalition party workers joined Congress in presence of Mr. Saroori. Newly joined entrants attributed their joining Congress to the miserable attitude of BJP towards public concerns adding that the party is only in search of occasions to ignite tension between various sections of the society by exploiting their sentiments on one or the other pretext.“The party when in power did nothing to ameliorate the lot of people especially living in far-flung and remote areas. Its leadership is only interested in grabbing power for vested interests” they alleged. “PDP-BJP has done nothing for the people since they are in power and totally forget the population living in remote and far-flung areas like Doda-Kishtwar”, they said adding that the Ghulam Nabi Azad is the ‘hope of rural areas’ and Congress believes in practical actions rather than slogan raising.

Welcoming the PDP-BJP rank and file of Doda-Kishtwar areas in Congress, Saroori said that Congress is the voice of people. “It has always stood for the people and will continue to represent the aspirations of all the sections of the society”, he added.
